Last Wednesday, I had the privilege to lead a Vinyasa Flow class at the Press Preview of the Global Mala Project Manila 2015.
Friends from the press and media as well as bloggers and influencers were present to have a taste of what’s to come on the big day.
Teresa Herrera opened the preview event with an introduction to The Global Mala Project.
Teresa, also a yogini, brought the Global Mala Project to Manila after her teacher Shiva Rea began the movement in 2007. Today the Global Mala runs in 50 different countries every year, the Philippines included. The objective is to bring both yogis and non-yoga practitioners together to practice and move altogether for a noble cause.
I led the attendees through an open-level Vinyasa Flow immediately followed by the most relaxing guided meditation practice I’ve had in months.
The meditation class was led by Francois Flaviano of Bliss Yoga Manila.
Teachers from all over the country will be leading a wide range of classes that cater to the needs of those who have been practicing for years and those who have never stepped on a mat before.
The beauty of all this is that we are all bound by one objective–to practice yoga for the benefit not just of ourselves but also of others. This, I believe is the true purpose of yoga.
As the annual event continues to grow, more and more brands are starting to support its charitable cause. Certified Calm was present at the Pre-event to hydrate us with refreshing citrus water in Klean Kanteen stainless glasses.
And as if we weren’t hydrated enough at the event, I even went home with 12 Liters of Tropicana Coco Quench. Yes, that’s an entire case. Enough to last me about 2-3 weeks! :p
If you’re interested in joining the Global Mala Project this year, you may purchase tickets from any Certified Calm branch or from Sprout. These are on early bird (P650) until September 2. Regular Price is at P750. This is happening at White Space, Chino Roces on September 26, 2015. The event starts at 8AM and ends at 10PM (I wasn’t kidding when I said it’s a DAY of yoga).
Each year, the event grows and more classes are being offered. Choose from over 40 classes led by different teachers from all over the country.
I’m teaching the Power Core Flow Class at 8:00 PM over at the Lunar Room. We’re bringing the energy up and will be moving with good music and lots of positive vibrations. Looking forward to seeing you guys there! Namaste <3
