News about Trampoline Park opening in Manila spread online last year, creating buzz and exciting adults and children alike. Well, that playground has just opened, and we got the chance to visit it last week right before their soft opening.
The concept of a Trampoline Park has been around for over a decade and is popular in other countries such as the US and the UK. The place is often a huge space with trampolines installed on almost the entire floor surface. Gaps between each trampoline are all padded making it safe to jump around. Walls are either netted or covered in the same material as the trampoline or are padded.
During our visit, we were free to bounce around and test-drive the trampolines. We also got to dive into the foam pit, which was my personal favorite.
We got to chat a little bit to Trampoline Park’s Co-owner Mark Hodgsen and he talked about the health benefits of jumping on trampolines. Believe it or not, 10 minutes on a trampoline gives you a better cardiovascular workout, according to a study conducted by NASA. It may look easy, but ten minutes of non-stop bouncing is more than enough to make you break a sweat.
If you’re bored with your usual workout, get your butt over to the Trampoline Park and get some jumps in.
Jumping works nearly all the major muscle groups in your body (most especially your legs) and gets your heart-rate up. Now, BOUNCING ON a trampoline adds a bit of twist to that. It’s low impact, meaning your knees and ankles absorb very little of the shock from the rebound. This keeps you going and gives your whole body a pretty intense workout. And as compared to jumping on solid ground, bouncing on a trampoline automatically awakens your core muscles to balance and stabilize the body, keeping you from falling.
Good news is, Trampoline Park plans to roll out fitness classes which include HIIT and circuits that involve the use of the trampoline. No final schedule or details on these classes yet during the time of our visit, but this is definitely something we will be watching out for.
