Greatly inspired by Mark Bustos’ #BeAwesometoSomebody project, I decided to start the #Healthierin100 Movement wherein one commits to become a health buddy to a friend (or two) for 100 days. In my case, I made a commitment to a close friend. I’d have to admit, this is pretty nerve-wracking especially because it not only requires dedication from my friend’s part but from mine as well. I’d have to be there with her every step of the way.
#HEALTHIERIN100 and What It’s All About
The Healthier in 100 Movement is a solid commitment for 100 days on the part of two or more people. Basically, it’s a movement to transform one’s current lifestyle to a healthier one, not solely for weight loss purposes but for a simple, more long-term goal–LIFE. Being a buddy not only means you’re there to accompany each other during workouts, it means you have to be there to lift the other person up every time. It’s not merely a transformation of the physical body, it’s changing a person’s overall outlook preparing him/her to keep going even after a hundred days.
What I really want is for people to have a healthier perspective of taking care of themselves. I want them to see how much more they can do when they work to become healthy for the right reasons. I aim to change the way most people see and understand the lifestyle. Especially those who see working out as a “burden” and eating the right food in good portions as “torture” or a “restriction”. In the end, it’s all about how we see the brighter side in everything.
HOW WE’RE GOING TO DO IT
I volunteered to help one of my best friends, Shirley. She’s been struggling to become healthier and stronger for quite some time now and when we started to talk about the movement, we both got excited AND nervous. While we will be setting goals and a target weight, we’re not going to push ourselves too hard to reach that goal in 100 days. The priority is to give her enough motivation and dedication to keep at it once she gets off her training wheels which is the #healthierin100 movement. We aim to form good habits and develop a healthier and happier, more positive outlook.
I prepared a health plan for her which includes guidelines in eating and exercising. We’re not doing a strict diet but there are things that I asked her to avoid and things that I want her to have on her plate more often. I also prepared a calendar of workouts for her to make sure she doesn’t think twice about breaking a sweat. Apart from that I’m setting aside an hour per day, three days a week to personally train her and help her get in shape.
Her food and exercise plans are based on her current habits and needs. It helps that I know this girl so well!
I gave her my word to give this project everything I’ve got as long as she does the same. We’re documenting the entire journey here on the blog because we both agreed that the journey is way more important than the destination itself.
October 1 is Day 1. We’ve got a lot of plans for this long and exciting journey. Watch out for the blog post on our first day and wish us luck!
Oh and guys, why don’t you go out there and be awesome to somebody today as well? <3
