November is World Vegan month and many countries around the globe have begun celebrating it through vegan festivals. Finally, the Philippines’ time has come and we too, get to come together for two weekends of movement workshops, talks and vegan food.
This year’s theme is all about Climate Change, a battle we have been losing for nearly half a century now. If you listened to Leonardo DiCaprio’s speech when he won the Oscar for Best Actor, you probably caught “Climate Change is REAL…” For the longest time, we have been dismissing the idea because this phenomenon never posted immediate harm…until now.
The earth’s core temperature has risen way past beyond safe levels. If we go any further than this, life as we know it, will cease to exist. A rise in core temperature does not necessarily mean the whole world will get warmer. It could also mean places will get much colder and warmer countries, MUCH hotter.
Research has shown that the food we consume greatly affects our climate. This means the less we consume animals and their by-products, the more we help our planet recover from this devastation. Before The Flood, Leonardo DiCaprio’s documentary on Climate Change tells us more about it and shows us HOW we can save the only planet we have to live in. Watch the full film here.

Now, I’ve told friends about the upcoming VegFest and I’ve gotten so many questions that I feel it would be best to answer the most common ones here:
Do I need to be vegan or vegetarian to attend? Quick answer is NO. We would love for everyone to join us! It’s a safe place to learn more about veganism. We won’t judge you, promise!
Is there an entrance fee? There is no entrance fee to attend the festival. Most workshops are free except for the GuPru Fun Run.
What can we expect to do there? Discover sustainable, vegan products proudly made in the Philippines. We have food and lifestyle merchants coming to showcase their products. Try AMAZING vegan food (you won’t miss your meat!), vegan treats and desserts or join any of the workshops.
