Hello from Wan Chai! It’s a few minutes past midnight and I’m back in our hotel room after a full day of walking and exploring the city. Been M.I.A. for the past few days because my days have been so filled from attending the annual Asia Yoga Conference, to going on a daily sweat sesh, to (guiltily) shopping for workout gear. And as much as I just want to dive in between the sheets, I also missed writing and sharing stuff with you guys. So, here I am.
I gotta tell you, my body is so sore from all the activities the past few days here and I’m looking forward to getting some recovery time after tomorrow, my last day in Hong Kong. I’m pretty sure you’re all looking forward to that much needed break too so go ahead and spend this long weekend indulging in something you know would nourish you and power you up for the week ahead.
Speaking of treats that nourish and re-fuel, I’m sharing something I discovered a couple of months ago that will once again excite your tastebuds. Exhibit A:
Now, I’m thinking “I probably don’t need to write anything else about these pops”. You must admit, these photos are already screaming “Eat me!” or rather “LIQ me!”
Liq My Stick first caught my attention on Instagram. These popsicles made of cold-pressed juices from local, organic produce come in fun, unique and refreshing flavors. The “Liq” stands for the small-batch spirits (LIQuor) they add to some of their quirkier menu items.
Hand-made, gourment and vegan, I immediately hunted them down and found them at the Flow in the City where I met Marisse.
Marisse Reyes (Fil-Am raised in Singapore) and Peter Annink (Dutch), a young married couple quit their jobs to start a fun, healthy food business in the Philippines. You know each popsicle comes with a whole lot of heart because no one leaves the comfort of having a stable job for something they don’t love.
One food item that’s really hard to find as a vegan in the Philippines is ice cream. Filipinos LOVE ice cream so much that they’ve become so used to consuming dairy and thinking that it’s okay. But ice cream doesn’t have to cow’s milk in it for you to enjoy and Liq My Stick answers that with healthy, plant-based alternatives.
You finally don’t have to be guilty about eating ice cream, LMS gives you a reason to include popsicles in your diet with cold-pressed fruit and vegetable juices.
You also get to explore flavors you don’t get to read through the fridge doors in the supermarket. How does Turmeric, Beet, Balsamic Vinegar or even beer sound to you?
Convinced? Head on over to their booth at the Legazpi Sunday Market in Makati. Get in touch with them for free deliveries at The Fort and in Makati.
For arrangements and inquiries, subscribe to their Facebook Page or follow them on Instagram.
Tomorrow’s a Sunday so make sure you catch them. Meanwhile, I will continue on with my explorations here and share more with you once I get back next week! Check back for my adventures in HK as well as exciting news on upcoming events! xx
