Salad Stop, a restaurant originally established in Singapore, has recently opened their first branch in Manila. I walked in after teaching a class, looking to eat something light yet satisfying.
The bright, clean interiors made all of the colorful posters pop out which, I think, is good especially because they clearly wanted to send a message about eating “Wide Awake” across. It felt like walking into a fastfood restaurant and that, for me, is a good thing. The less intimidating a restaurant’s interiors are, the more people will feel comfortable to walk in and try it. The fact that they’re making good, clean food accessible to more people is a step closer to changing our perspective on dining out and eating food that nourish the body.
Their menu consists of signature wraps and salads and a limited selection of beverages and desserts. There were few vegetarian and vegan options. I ended up ordering “The Geisha” (Asian salad). The food was good and ingredients, fresh. You also have the option to create your own wrap or salad.
Set aside about P300-350 for a full yet healthy meal. Servings are pretty generous so if you want to keep it light, you can opt to split your salad or wrap with a friend.
This company has a very interesting background. Read all about their philosophy and how they began at Saladstop.com.sg
